TOGAF EA Course – FOUNDATION and PRACTITIONER incl. Learning Studies scenarios for the Applied Practitioner badge

TOGAF® EA is a proven enterprise architecture methodology and framework used by the world’s leading organisations to improve business efficiency. Enterprise architecture professionals fluent in TOGAF enjoy greater industry credibility, job effectiveness, and career opportunities.

Get your TOGAF EA Certification with this powerful 4-day training program. The course focuses on the practical application of TOGAF in realistic enterprise architecture scenarios and provides thorough coverage of the knowledge needed for the Foundation and Practitioner certification.

The course is structured into two 2-day modules, FOUNDATION and PRACTITIONER. Modules can be taken separately although most prefer to take the combined course.

TOGAF EA FOUNDATION (2 days)

This module covers the FOUNDATION curriculum including terminology, structure, basic concepts of TOGAF EA, and the core principles of Enterprise Architecture. As well as the theory, the course includes many examples of architecture deliverables and artifacts. The course prepares participants to undertake the TOGAF FOUNDATION exam.

TOGAF EA PRACTITIONER (2 days)

This second module focuses on the practical application of the TOGAF® EA framework. It builds on the foundational knowledge of the FOUNDATION level using 18 practical scenarios to reinforce the critical concepts. The focus is on application and analysis in addition to knowledge and comprehension.

The trainer makes the difference!

When you attend a training course there are actually two costs – the course fee, and the value of your time. You can see the fee. But whether you get value for your time and money depends totally on the quality of the course.

Lots of things go into making a great course, but the single most important is always the trainer - their knowledge of the subject, their real-world experience that they can draw upon in class, their ability to answer questions, their communication skills and their obvious enthusiasm for the subject. This is what makes the difference. When it comes to TOGAF, ALC offers two outstanding trainers. Please contact us if you wish to know the designated trainer for your course.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to attend the TOGAF EA FOUNDATION course. For PRACTITIONER it is expected that participants have passed the TOGAF EA FOUNDATION exam.

The TOGAF Combined exam

A Combined exam voucher is issued to participants at the end of the course. The best way to think of the combined TOGAF EA certification exam is that it is one exam session with two parts. The Combined candidate sits both parts consecutively, with Practitioner immediately following Foundation. Each part must be passed in order to obtain an overall pass. If you fail one part then no certification is awarded, however you only need retake the failed part. So, for example if you fail Foundation, you need only retake the Foundation exam. But you need to wait at least one month before you are allowed to retake an examination. If an exam is failed it is up to the candidate to purchase another voucher if they wish to have another attempt. Candidates who pass both exams are awarded TOGAF EA Practitioner Certification.

FOUNDATION Exam
  • Certification is only achieved by passing the examination
  • The exam is in closed-book format, and includes 40 multiple-choice questions
  • The pass score is 60% (24 out of 40 questions)
  • Duration of exam is 60 minutes
PRACTITIONER Exam
  • The exam is in open-book format
  • Comprises 8 complex multiple-choice scenario-based questions
  • The pass score is 60% (24 out of 40 points)
  • Duration of the exam is 90 minutes

Exam Details

The TOGAF exams are administered by The Open Group at a Pearson Vue test centre or online via Pearson Vue’s online platform, ONVUE.

  • Candidates will receive exam vouchers after the course
  • The exam is taken AFTER the course, at a suitable time
  • The Combined Exam Voucher is valid for 12 months
  • Candidates cannot be awarded the Practitioner Certificate until they have passed both exams
  • For more information about online please click here.

TOGAF Exam pass / fail scenarios:

We receive many questions regarding pass / fail scenarios.  Here are the possibilities as stipulated by The Open Group:

  • Fail Foundation / Fail Practitioner. No certificate awarded, can be undertaken as a combined exam or two separate exams no less than one month later.
  • Pass Foundation / Fail Practitioner. No certificate awarded. Practitioner exam can be undertaken no earlier than one month later. Once Practitioner is passed in this scenario a Practitioner certificate will be awarded.
  • Fail Foundation / Pass Practitioner. No certificate awarded. Foundation exam can be undertaken no earlier than one month later. Once Foundation is passed in this scenario a Practitioner certificate will be awarded.
  • Pass Foundation / Pass Practitioner. Practitioner certificate only awarded. Practitioner status means Foundation has also been attained.
